Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a spiral galaxy located 100 million light years away in the constellation of Aquarius at a declination of -7 degrees.  It is a magnitude 12 galaxy which spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a Milky Way size diameter of 120,000 light years.

The disk is inclined about 18 degrees off edge-on, with the near side at the bottom of the disk.

I love the colorful and textured disk of this distant galaxy.  The yellow unbarred core is surrounded by spiraling dust lanes sprinkled with blue star clouds.  A few reddish HII regions make it even more interesting.
